Our best-selling online course is back and better than ever! APQS Longarm Certification Sponsored by Quilting Daily has been revised and updated. Not only will you learn how to make beautiful quilts, you’ll also gain skills to turn your passion into a paycheck with tips on how to run your own quilting business.

As I write this, there is a blanket of fresh, white snow on the ground in Colorado.

I am grateful to Mother Nature for the inspiration needed to finish up this winter issue of Fons & Porter’s Quick + Easy Quilts!

For this installment, our designers were inspired by cold weather, warm mittens, and hot cocoa. They share sweet family traditions, ways to slow down during the holiday season, and quilt patterns that commemorate special memories from their childhood.

Charisma Horton designed a quilt inspired by her grandmother’s Icelandic hot chocolate recipe. Along with the pattern for Hot Cocoa, she shares the story of holidays past and how this recipe has become a family tradition she cherishes.

In Christmas Presence by Hope Yoder, she gives details about a special holiday tradition that allows her family a way to remember the holiday season from year to year. We also challenged Hope to make two versions of her adorable stocking pattern. One is a quick string-pieced design with a fluffy chenille toe, and the second design we asked her to have fun and play!

Don’t miss the article Next Steps in Quilting and accompanying Table Top Trio pattern by Catherine Redford. Catherine offers tips and techniques to use your walking foot and get those quilt tops quilted with very little stress. She not only provides practical suggestions for setting up your machine, she explains how to line up your rows and what stitches work best for snuggly quilts that get better with every wash.

Catherine Redford shows you how to easily piece a table runner and place mats, then gives tips for quilting them on your domestic sewing machine.

From fast projects to make and give, to quilts that are perfect to cuddle under with a hot toddy as you watch the snow fall out your window, this issue is sure to inspire with all our quilt patterns. Here is to a safe end to 2020 and a fresh start in 2021!
