In a quilt designed to showcase that gorgeous gradation of color, Kimberly teaches a beginner-friendly bargello patchwork in 8 video lessons. You’ll also learn specialized tips and techniques for working with ombre fabrics, cutting and organizing your strips for bargello-style patchwork, using die-cutters or rulers, and even an infinity spiral quilting technique that can ONLY be accomplished on a home sewing machine!

About this Quilt-Along

If you’re not sure how to work with ombre fabrics, or if you find bargello patchwork intimidating, you need to join Kimberly in making BarGelato! a beginner-friendly quilt that combines both!  

She’ll show you how to find the perfect fabric match for tricky ombres, and some special tips for cutting and organizing all those strips needed for a bargello-style quilt. 

Kimberly will also teach you a spiral quilting technique that is designed to make the most of your home sewing machine! Learn about the thread, needles, and feet needed to get the best result in your quilting. 

You’ll even get to play with die-cutting for your binding, and explore flannel backing!

In the video, Kimberly will coach you through fabric matching. You can select any ombre fabric from the Gelato collection, or even a variety! In the video, you’ll see three different combinations, which Kimberly has called Horizon, Contrast, and Rainbows. From Maywood Studio, you will need 1 yard Gelato ombre fabric print, 1 yard fabric for coping strips, 2-1/2 yards fabric for background (1/2 yard of that for binding), and 4 yards fabric for backing.
