3106: Marianne’s Trellis – Fons & Porter
Episode 3106 Description and Preview
Marianne and Mary Fons teach a special quilt in this episode. Marianne’s Trellis was inspired by an antique design seen at a quilt museum, and her version has the hallmark beauty of a classic with all of the ease of today’s quilting techniques! Learn how to make half square triangles in batches when you need a lot, how to cut setting triangles oversize in order to float patchwork elements and, how to speed up chain-piecing using Marianne’s “leapfrog” technique.
Featured Quilt: Marianne’s Trellis

I’m looking to download the episode Marianne’s Trellis 3106, but cannot find where to do this. Is this an option? Thank you!
I love the “Trellis” quilt in your latest magazine. BUT, it finishes at 110″ x 110″. This is too large for my 10′ Tin Lizzie Phoenix Frame. What the chances of getting a reduced pattern that would finish at not more than 96″ which is the largest my frame can accommodate? Please advise. Thank you.
Diana,
While we’d love to, we aren’t able to provide instructions for other sizes for all our patterns. If you’d like to size it differently, we do have a few suggestions:
1. You can take the pattern to a local quilt shop, they are likely to have the expertise to figure it out.
2. You may also be able to take the pattern to a guild meeting for help, especially since guild members tend to be more advanced quilters, and could probably make short work of it.
3. I also found this fantastic article that includes a lot of great tips on resizing https://www.quiltingcompany.com/tip-tuesday-want-king-size-quilts-resize-your-quilt-patterns-fons-porter/.
Good luck!
Best,
Tiffany
I watched the video Marianne’s Trellis. One question. The small blocks – is it cut at 2 1/2 or 2 inches (finished)? A little confused. Thanks Pat
Patricia,
Did you have this question after watching the full video? If so I can pass your question along to the team to be sure we get you the right answer.
Thanks!

Patricia—thanks for asking! The team has confirmed that the half square triangles finish at 2″.
